Venue Overview

Once famed as a 'city of a thousand trades', The Alchemist decided to make Birmingham the 'city of a thousand cocktails', setting up shop on one of the best-preserved 19th Century streetscapes in the country, Colmore Row.
Since 1879, the Grand Hotel has been one of Birmingham’s best-loved and most famous buildings. Imposing vaulted ceilings provide the perfect setting for our distinctly dark artworks and suitably sinister taxidermy. A basement over a century old provides the perfect laboratory for experimentation and their first ever nitrogen infused negroni tap brings the ridiculous to the sublime.

As Foodinate's first national restaurant partner, The Alchemist has taken our fight against local food poverty to deprived communities across the nation. You can now head to ANY of The Alchemist venues and enjoy either the Vegetable Gyoza or the Braised Beef Ragu knowing that a hot, nourishing meal will be provided for a person in need in the exact same community as a result - at no extra cost to you! All in the power of choice...

Simon Potts, Managing Director of The Alchemist, said of the new partnership: "We love the work Foodinate do. We're the first national restaurant brand to partner with the cause and we're immensely proud to work alongside such a fantastic charitable organisation. It also allows our customers to be a part of the initiative and we look forward to seeing the difference we can together make to our local communities."
